In Ichikawamisato, Yamanashi prefecture, we freed part of a parking space in front of a shop and designed it as a public space to create encounters. We designed a terrace that reflects the characteristic shop façade. This terrace is a fusion of garden and bench, where people can stay outdoors enjoying the company of people and plants. In an area increasingly dependent on the car, where people hardly meet on the streets, we hope that this public space will activate communication and increase people’s consciousness towards the district.
